ENG Cereal

For ENG we have been doing adverts where we had to design a cereal to attract a specific audience. Mine were children and by adding colours I thought that would be a good attraction to kids and I thought that it would be good to put a mascot on the cereal as well to add some detail. By adding all the words on the cereal I hoped it would attract parents as well since they are the ones buying the cereal.

1PE Volleyball Kotahitanga

For 1PE we are doing a unit of kotahitanga. We were put into groups that we stay in for every team building activity or volley game The people in my team are Kiriti the coach, Kobe the trainer, Saige the manager, Te mauri the referee, Rewi the captain, Savannah the statistic keeper. My team and I have been doing volleyball and personally I am not a fan but I try to work with my team as much as I can. For kotahitanga my team warms up and stretches before doing anything. After that we do some drills that help our passes and spikes etc. We like to do a lot of drills to make sure we are ready for our game against another team. I like to always cheer my team on whenever like when we get a point or when we win or lose but I also cheer on the other team because they are also trying as well and I do not want them to feel like they aren’t good. I always try to show kotahitanga in my team because I like to build them up to make sure they are confident in themselves. My role in our team is statistics keeper and all I do is make sure everyone is ready and how they are feeling before and after every game. I get feedback from my team and pass it on to my coach to see if they enjoyed the session or not so that we can plan more. I try to make sure my team is ready and all set to go. As stat keeper I try to keep score of our games while also playing volleyball which is pretty difficult but I try to make it work. Volleyball has been going kind of good in our team because we like to lift each other up before every game which really shows kotahitanga towards each other.

300 word thing

Once upon a time there was a person named Tim he was a very interesting person. People were very curious of Tim because he spoke in an accent that no one had ever heard of before and he also dressed very differently. Some people thought he was weird because he dresses himself in the same outfit every single day and that outfit was a polka dot shirt with black pants, but the weird thing about it was he wore that every single day. He lived in an ordinary town with ordinary people, But things just weren’t right. He was a very sad person he was down all the time he didn’t think anyone liked him, Little did he know the reason behind it. Since Tim had no friends he had the same routine every day and that routine consists of waking up cleaning his house going for a walk and then getting any supplies he needed for his home then he would go home and watch tv and then he would just go about the rest of his day at home. His day repeated in that cycle the same way walking the same route everyday. One day he just got sick of it, he was sick of being alone and out of sync so he decided to make a friend but little did he know that’s when his life would go down. While he was on his adventure he thought he was gonna find a nice friend that he could talk to. He walked up to a nice boy and said hello my name is tim. That person did not talk back to Tim, he didn’t even glance Tims way. Tim found that very weird and then he tapped on the person’s shoulder and his hand went right through. ” IM INVISIBLE”

IDY 8/5/24

On Wednesday my IDY class did our weekly clean at the RSA. Maya and I cleaned the fridge with all the glasses and the water jugs in it. We had to pull all the cups out and wipe down all the shelves in the fridge. I started on the left side of the fridge and Maya did the right but I started from the top shelf, I was using a tray to put all the cups on the bar but it took to long so we asked the teacher to open the bar which made it easier for me. The way I did it was I put all the cups on the bar bench then I grabbed a cloth and wiped the shelf thoroughly. Then I repeated that until I got to the bottom shelf which had the water jugs on it. I had to grab all the jugs out and put them all on the bar bench and had to refill them behind the bar. After I refilled them I put them all in but in an organised way by putting the same kind of bottles in their own row. When I finished I wiped down the bench on the bar, I put all the dirty cloths that we used and I put them where they were supposed to go. The last thing I did was I grabbed a mop and mopped the little bit of floor in front of the bar.

HCG – Pumpkin Soup, Pizza Dough Bread 30/4/24

Last week me and my group made Pumpkin soup and Pizza dough bread . The people in my group were Payton and Darling. Me and Darling started by making the soup and Payton started by making the dough for the bread.

The ingredients we used to make the pumpkin soup were 1 C peeled, diced pumpkin ½ C peeled,  diced carrot, ¼ onion, finely diced, Peeled, Crushed garlic – to taste (1tsp), Curry powder – to taste (1tsp), 3 C water

The ingredients we used for the pizza dough bread were flour, yeast ,water, sugar, garlic and a little bit of oil. The way that Payton made the bread was she started by mixing yeast and warm water and a little bit of sugar and then let it sit for five minutes until it bubbles. Then she put 2 cups of flour mixed with the yeast and let it rise for more than an hour till it doubles in size. Then she put it in a tray and covered it in oil and garlic and put it in the oven.

The way we made our Soup was we started by

  1. Roast pumpkin, carrot and onion until tender and golden.
  2. Put in a pan with ginger, garlic and curry powder and saute until it becomes fragrant.
  3. Add water and simmer until vegetables are beginning to break down.
  4. Taste and correct flavour to your liking.
  5. Blend soup and pass through a sieve, squeeze as much through as possible or your soup will be thin.
  6. Serve in a bowl

IDY Overall Review Term One

This Term my IDY class has been working at the Kawakawa RSA doing and rotating jobs. It has saved the RSA a lot of money because of our class and using our double to clean it for free and it benefits us to get some sort of work experience. There are a couple of jobs that we had to do but it depended on what needed to be cleansed and organised. The jobs that I did were cleaning the bars, the kitchen, the toilets at both ends, the chiller, the recycling, vacuuming the carpet. I have done some of those jobs a couple of times more than once . My experience so far at the RSA has been good because I found it fun for the time being and the job I enjoyed the most was cleaning the chiller because it really helps my organisation skills. Personally i think all the jobs i have done have been done properly and satisfied by my teacher because I do not like when things are not done properly especially if it was my job. Even though we are doing the same jobs all over again in Term Two at least I will know what to clean and how to clean it without having to ask the teacher for any guidance.

HCG

Last Tuesday we made 3 things,  garlic pizza bread, seafood chowder and ramen.

We started by preheating our oven to 200 degrees on fan bake, then we started the pizza dough then topping it with some herbs, sea salt as well as some olive oil, we then put the dough in the sun to rise.  The dough took about an hour to rise , when it was ready we put it in our oven for about 20 minutes.

For the chowder we used mussels, surimi, carrots, onions, milk, salt, flour and curry powder.  We started off by cutting all our veges and our surimi, we then shelled our mussels and chopped them into bite size pieces we then  fried all our vegetables in a pan with some milk continuously pouring a little bit at a time.  After we had poured all our milk in we added a tablespoon of flour to thicken the milk, after our milk was thick we added our seafood and curry powder.

The next meal we made was ramen, we started by cooking our noodles in hot water, cooking our kumara in some soy sauce and boiling our eggs.  while those were cooking we choose some toppings for our ramen, I choose spring onion, chicken, and shallots, when our noodles, eggs and kumara were ready we played it all up first was the noodles the we added our eggs, kumara, and chicken, we then added our chicken broth, then our other toppings.  I enjoyed all the food we made because there was a variety and I have never made seafood chowder before.

Hospitality & Catering

Last week’s lesson we made banoffee tarts and Blueberry and Apple muffins . The ingredients in the recipes were Blueberries, Banana, Flour, Sugar, Milk, Baking powder, Apple, Egg, Butter, Custard Powder, Caramel,

In order to make the blueberry muffins we had to work together as a group.  Half of our team members were working on cutting apples and blueberries for the muffin fillings.  The other half were focused on making the base of the muffins using flour, Sugar, Milk, Baking powder, Egg, and Butter.

In order to make the banoffee tarts, we were given small tart shells bases to fill in with a caramel custard we prepared before hand to put on the bottom then layered that with a few sliced bananas to finish the look off.

In my opinion the tart shells were not that great but the muffins were not that bad .
